Hominy Creek Farmhouse
A modern farmhouse on a tight West Asheville infill lot
The build
This one was an exercise in discipline. A half-acre infill lot near Hominy Creek, a 30-foot creek buffer eating the back yard, and a price ceiling set by the block: West Asheville buyers wanted four bedrooms under a million dollars, and that number does not forgive over-building.
So we built for the block. Standing-seam roof, board-and-batten fiber cement, a real mudroom off the carport, and a screened porch facing the creek buffer instead of fighting it. Inside: quartz counters, a cafe-style range, a walk-in pantry, and a fourth bedroom pre-plumbed so a buyer could make it an office or a guest suite without a permit.
We poured a detached studio slab for a future accessory dwelling and left it at that. It listed in February and went under contract in 21 days at 99 percent of ask.
